YACHTING.

CRUISER FOR £100.

SANDERS CUP PLANS.

SOUTH WILLING TO PAY SHARE,

SETTLEMENT IN SIGHT,

(By SPEEDWELL.)

A definite step towards healing the breach between the Auckland Yacht and Motor Boat Association and the Southern associations affiliated to the K«w Zealand Xachting Council, was taken last Wednesday, when the Wellington Provincial Yacht and Motor Boat Association decided that it Tvould pay the Auckland Association Its full share of the cost of preparing the bow plans and moulds.

In the previous week the Canterbury Tachting Association' also unanimously decided to pay for the plans, bavins already paid for the steel moulds. Word Ijas been received that the Otago Association has also agreed to pay. This leaves onlv the Southland Association, which may meet only at long intervals in the w ntcr. No doubt this is the effect of the letter sent by Wellington to the three southern associations last month, suggesting that a settlement of the dispute was desirable It pointed out that the flrst step would be to pav Auckland for the cost incurred in redrawing the plans and making the steel inouids! It is very satisfactory to see that they have agreed to tins. Writing to "Speedwell" on this matter, a leading southern yachtsman says: As von sav, things look more hopeful for the Sanders Cup,; and as the southern associations have now agreed to pay up. there Should bo nothing in the way of Auckland s coming in with the southern associations in in "r provincial affairs. We are all keen to sec it, and; I do not think the arrangiii" of a satisfactory constitution lor a national body/should present any difficulty. Surely Auckland will agree to equal: representation if her domestic interests are adequately safeguarded? As you probably know the constitution of the New Zealand Yai-htinK Council was amended last February for the very purpose of making that absolute!} , clear."

This fomihg ns it. does from one in the inner circle Ot the council at Chrlstchurch, is very heartening, and when the miittei comes before : the Auckland Yiicht and Motor Boat Association officially, no doubt it will receive sympathetic treatment, so that before next season Auckland bo again in the position of being able to challenge for the cup that bears the honoured name of Sanders.
