ROTARY CONVENTION.
WORLD GATHERING AT DETROIT
DETROIT, June 20. [ Ten thousand Rotarians representing 70 nations gathered at the opening session of the International Rotary Convention in Detroit yesterday. In his presidential address Mr. John Nelson said the organisation was a "realm without frontiers" which could not countenance discrimination because of racial prejudices. The Mayor, Mr. Frank Couzens, gave an address of welcome, which was responded to by Mr. J. M. Ilott, of Wellington, on behalf of the foreign delegates. The 16 Australian and New Zealand delegates have established their headin the Statlcr Hotel. They havo enjoyed several days' outings to Lake Mackinac as well as motoring tours round Detroit and the vicinity.
