MACHINERY BLOWN UP
Deliberate Vandalism at N.S.W. Colliery.
THREE CHARGES EXPLODE.
(Received lil a.m.) SYDNEY, this day. A deliberate attempt was made to blow up the machinery on. which the new Greta Colliery, in the Newcastle district, depends for its supplies of water. Intruders visited the shed in which pumping machinery is housed on the banks of the Hunter River, cut a belt used in the pumping process and placed three charges of explosive at vital points in the machinery. One shattered a motor, another damaged the pump itself and the third failed to explode.
