HIDES, SKINS AND TALLOW.
At yesterday's sale of sheepskins and 'hides there was a full attendance of tanners and exporters. Hides sold about the same as a c fortnight ago, while sheepskins were lower. Tallow values were unchanged. Following are quotations:— Sheepskins.—Dry: Halfbred and fine crossbred, 6%d per lb; medium crossbred, 5Md; coarse crossbred, 3%d; half to threequarter wool and quarter to half wool, 6%d; quarter wool, 3%d; lambs, 6d; pelts, 3V4d. -Salted: Best, 4/7 to 5/6 each; good, 4/ to 4/0; medium, 3/4 to 3/11; lambs, 2/ to 4/3. Hides.—Abattoirs: Extra heavy ox, fl%d per lb; heavy, 6%d; medium, 6d; light, 4%d; extra heavv, heavy and medium cow, 4%d; light, 4%d; kips, 7%d; yearlings, 79id; best calf, B%d; good, 7%d; inferior and damaged, 3d to 6V4rt. Country butchers: Extra heavy ox, Gd; heavy, 6d; medium, sYzd; light, 4}M; extra heavy, heavy and medium cow, 4 , /4 d; light, 4d; kips, 6%d; yearlings, 7d: best calf, B%d; good, 7%d; inferior and damaged, 2%d to sd. Tallow.—Best mixed, 12/6 per cwt; medium, 10/6; poor, 6/6.
