NORTHCOTE RATES.
ESTIMATES ADOPTED.
Last year Northcote rates were increased from SHd to 1/1.202 in the £ owing to the substantially reduced unimproved value consequent on the revaluation of the whole borough. The Borough Council last evening adopted estimates providing for rates totalling 1/1 in the £, a slight decrease. This embraces all borough activities, with the exception of sanitation, for which the yearly charge is £2 12/, and a levy of 1/ per house for rubbish, removal. The drainage rate of 3.34 d will be struck on the ratable value of £157,032 of the land in the special area to provide interest and sinking fund payments of £2191 in respect to the loans of £38,000. The water consumer's rate, which a year ago was raised from %d, is to remain at Id oji the ratable value of £151,775, non-consumers id on a value of £18,072, and charges as hitherto for meter supplies, flush and hose licenses.
