EIGHTY YEARS OLD.
P. HAYMAN AND COMPANY'S
ANNIVERSARY.
Two anniversaries will be celebrated at the end of the present week by one of the oldest business houses in New Zealand—Messrs. P. Hayman and Co. The firm will celebrate its 80th anniversary, also its second anniversary of trading in Auckland as an open warehouse. The business was founded in New Zealand by Mr. Lachman Hayman, who opened the first branch at Duncdin, where he was joined by his brother, Mr. Henry Hayman, a year or two later. In 187S the brothers returned to Birmingham, where the head office was situated. Both Messrs. Henry Hayman and Mr. Lachman Hayman were engaged in buying merchandise for the New Zealand branches up to the time of their deaths. The business is now carried on by Mr. Lachman Hayman's eldest son, Mr. Harold L. Hayman, who lives in London, while the other son, Mr. Philip J. Hayman, is at present in charge of the Auckland branch.
