Business was almost at a standstill on the Auckland Stock Exchange this morning. and the quotations generally showed that buyers and sellers were wide apart, This reveals the tendency of the investment market in the Dominion generally, and laav be viewed as tne customary -slackness -which occurs during the near ■ approach of a Parliamentary session. Bidding for banks and insurances showed no recovery from the recent slowness. Commercials were still available at 10/3, and best buyers stopped at 10". -New Zealands were quoted slightly lower, at £2 8/6 : and £2 9/6. Auckland Gas were almost alone among front-rank securities in maintaining their strength.
