WESTFIELD SALES.
FAT STOCK MARKET. VALUES CONTINUE FIRM. Values for beef continue firm at the Westfield fat stock sales to-day. Messrs. Alfred Buekland and Sons, Ltd., report:—At our weekly Westfield fat stock market to-day there was a yarding of 207 head of beet' (comprising 119 steers and 88 cows and heifers), as against 224 head last week. The greater portion of the ox beef was of excellent quality, with values firm at last week's rates. Extra choice ox sold to 22/ per 1001b; choice and prime, 19/ to 20/; secondary and plain, 17/ to 18/; prime young cow and heifer beef, 17/ to 20/; secondary, 10/ to 10/. Extra heavy prime steers ranged in price from £9 to £9 10/; heavy, £8 to £8 17/0; lighter, £6 15/ to £7 17/0; light, £5 15/ to £0 12/6; small and unfinished, £4 to £5 12/0. Extra heavy prime young cows and heifers, £0 to £0 10/; heavy, £4 15/ to £5 15/; lighter, £3 10/ to £4 12/0; killable, 30/ to £3 7/0. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., report:—At our weekly Westfield fat stock market held to-day we penned beef in less than average numbers. Competition was keen throughout, with values very firm at late rates. Extra choice ox sold to £12/ per 1001b; choice and prime, 17/ to 20/; secondary and plain, 14/ to 10/; prime young cow and heifer beef, 17/ to 20/; secondary, 13/ to 10/. Extra heavy prime steers ranged in price from £9 5/ to £10 10/; heavy, £8 to £9; lighter, £0 12/0 to £.7 17/0; light, £5 10/ to £0 10/; small and unfinished, £4 5/ to £5 5/'; extra heavy prime young cows and heifers, £5 15/ to £0 10/; heavy, £4 10/ to £5 12/G; lighter, £3 15/ to £4 7/0; light, £2 12/0 to £3 12/0; others, £1 5/ to £2 10/. Extra heavy prime steers from Mr. James Taylor, "Bardowie," Cambridge, realised up to £10 10/.
