Mr. John Alexander leaves for Wellington to-night. Mr. J. G. Hewitt, S.M., of Wellington, is at the Station Hotel. / Captain -Montague Polley left for the South by the Limited last night. Dr. E*. P. Xeale, secretary of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce, is expected to return from Wellington tomorrow morning. Air S. Austin Carr, president of tho Auckland Agricultural and Pastoral Association, leaves for the South by tho Limited to-night. Mr. J. R. Simpson has been appointed chairman of the New Zealand Boxing Council during the absence in England of Dr. P. F. McEvedy. Mr. Janice Stevenson, of Flaxton, who recently resigned his position as chairman of. directors of the New Zealand Farmers' Co-operative Association, though retaining his seat on the board, has left on a trip to England and the Continent. Mr. Arnaud' McKellar has been appointed chairman of directors. Dr. Norwood j* arriving ii» Auckland on Saturday next, and will give an address under tlft auspices of the League of Nations Union the same evening in the Town Hall. His subject will be '•Peace and War and the Prospect." Sir George Fowlds, patron of the union, will preside. Dr. Norwood has spoken to large gatherings in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Wellington and Christchurch. Mr. J. B. Murphy, who for the past two and a half years has been manager for New Zealand of the Advanx Tyre Company, Ltd., has been appointed assistant-managing director at the head office in Australia, and leaves for Sydney by the Wanganella to-morrow. Ho will be succeeded by Mr. W. J. Hughee, who has uecn associated with the company for the past six years, for three of which he has been secretary.
