In the singles Miss Helen Jacobs (United States) beat Miss Dorothy Round, 6-4, 0-4; Muss Betty Nuthall (England) defeated Miss Babcock, 5-7 (i-3, 6-4; ami Miss Palfrey (United States) defeated Miss Scriven, 4r-6, o—2, Miasee Jacobs and Palfrey defeated Mrs. Godfree and Miss Nuthall in the doubles, 5-7, 6-3, 0-2. In the previous rounds on Friday Miss Palfrey had defeated Miss Round, 6-3, 3__o 8— 0; and Miss Jacobs defeated Mies Scriven, o—l,0 —1, o—l. In the doubles Misses Dearnian' and Lyle (England) defeated Misses Babcock and Cruickshank, 7—5, Miss Round was leading 6 —5 in the final set against Miss Palfrey on Friday, and serving well when the umpire interrupted, ordering new balls.
