EUROPEAN SITUATION.
I PRIMATE OF ENGLAND'S PLEA. ■ LONDON, June 13. "In order to bring the Christian spirit from the region of the common-place into the region of effective power," said the Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr. Cosmo Lang, at a meeting in the Man- ! sioir House, "I am sure that if the Pope ' spoke with his unique influence and authority not only Roman Catholics but I the whole world would listen to his j appeal for the co-operation of all the Christian Churches in promoting a spirit of Christianity." 1 Dr. Lang denounced the peril of selfish nationalism. He said the European situation was causing , very grave anxiety. Only Christianity could overcome the growing spirit of nationalism I and save Europe from calamity.
