ON 'CHANGE.

BUSINESS IS QUIETER; BUYERS HOLDiNG OFF. Business has been quieter on the Auckland Stock Exchange since Tuesday, and (here was moderate trading yesterday afternoon and this morning. Luck of interest among buyers is still tlio dominant feature of the banking and insurance sections. Sellers are ntiwini! scrip for most issues, and for Commercial jinnies this morning they were asking LG/5, while buyers dropped back to 10/1. Bank; ot" New Zealand quotations were unchanged at .C 2 10/6 und £2 11/. Auckland Gas contributing shares were still available at. the same price as the sales, and buyers were 2d lower. The rise of (id in Dcvonport Ferries registered Uic effect of recent strengthening; in the demand. Latest buyers were still in at £1 3/, while no more shares were on offer. Among best industrials the firmness in sellers' quotations has caused a temporary casing in business. Little Government scrip was available, and the demand remained unsatisfied at riding values. The Noon Call. Improved business was evident at the noon call, yJlien mining and Government stock.? Were in demand. Bank of .New Zealands have eased, aad •are back at their old level of £2 10/9. Four parcels of Golcondns changed hands at 3d, which id 2d lower than the former level. Sellers have fallen from Cd to 3',4d. , Talisman buyers have increased their offer. This morning it was 3.0/9. Now it is 11/2. Government seeurltlep sold as high as £109. That was for 1955 i per cent bonds, which is an increase of 10/ on the last sale. There was also a transaction at £108 12/6. Other Government issues also show a hardening tendency, and it is significant that there is a full list of buyers with few sellers.
