RUGBY FOOTBALL.

AUCKLAND CONTROL OF GAME WAIRARAPA TEAM NOT COMING. KO NOMINEE FOR NEW ZEALAND MANAGER. Mr. Harry Frost presided over last night's meeting of the Auckland Rugby Football Union, at which notice was received from the Waharapa Union that, owing to financial difficulties, it would not be possible for its representative team to visit Auckland this ssason. The question of the managership of the New Zealand team-for the coming Australian tour was' discussed, following the receipt of a letter from the New Zealand Union calling for nominations for the position. In this connection the North Auckland Union wrote offering to' support any nomination made by Auckland. It was finally decided, however,. to advise the New Zealand Union that the committee had no nomination to make. The Thames Union confirmed September 1 as the date for its match against Auckland at Eden Park. A tentative decision was reached with regard to the competition for the jubilee trophy this season. The committee resolved that this trophy bo played for on a knockout principle, commencing on August 18. A gold cup will bo donated to the winner. It was decided that each club would be entitled to enter one team only. Additional reinstatements approved for recommendation to the New Zealand Union: —A. W. Tubb, V, J. Lodge, K. Dunn.
