NEW COLD STORE.
PROPOSED £30,000 BUILDING FARMERS' FREEZING SCHEME. A proposal to erect a new cold storage building at the entrance to King's wharf at a total cost of 30,000 lias been made by the Auckland Farmers'. Freezing Company, Ltd., which, to that end, has sought the granting of fresh leases from tho Auckland Harbour Board. The matter has 'been referred to the finance committee of the board. The letter stated that the directors of the company did not think that the company would be justified in carrying out the proposal unless the Harbour Board agreed to the cancellation of the present leases, including those which had been transferred . from Messrs. J. J. Craig , , Ltd., and E. and W. Hellaby, Ltd., and to the issue of a lease with a longer tenure. The term asked for was 21 years, with, a right of renewal for three further terms of 21 years, making 84 years in all, the rent to tbe fixed by valuation at the end of each 21-yearly period. The building which the company propose to erect will be of five storeys, constructed in steel and concrete, with brick curtains, cork insulation, and conveyor j lifts and battery.
