SOCIETY OF MUSICIANS.
The junior branch of the Auckland Society of Musicians held their , first meeting yesterday afternoon, when there was a particularly good attendance. Mies Gladys Searell was the hostess and Miss Alice Law spoke on •the objects of the branch. It was to encourage young people, she said, to study β-o they could play in front of a critical audience. It was also to create good listeners and give the students an opportunity of hearing talks on musical subjects. Later in the afternoon violin and pianoforte solos and songs were given by the members, and considerable talent was displayed. The afternoon concluded with a competition arranged by Miss iHaresnape. . . •"■.,
