H.M.S. DUNEDIN.
TRIAL RUN SUCCESSFUL. HIGH SPEED IN GULF. . H.M.s. Dunedin, flagship of BoarAdmiral Burgcs Watson, carried out a full speed trial yesterday afternoon to test the repairs to the port tail shaft. The trial was successful. After a preliminary test in dock the cruiser was floated into the stream at noon and I immediately started on her run. The Dunedin' steamed dawn 'iangitoto I Channel at 17 knots and tlieii worked up to a maximum of 29 knots. The Dunedin was docked three weeks ago, when it was found that the port tail shaft had worn through the wood and metal bushing in the bracket supporting the after end of the shaft. A considerable amount of wear na<i also taken place on the shaft itself. The repair contract was carried out by Seagar Bros., Ltd., the firm engaging 40 w >rkmen for the job. An inspection was made by divers this morning and the repair was" reported to be entirely satisfactory her four hours' trial. The Dunedin will leave tomorrow on her winter cruise to Pacific Islands,
