FRIENDLY SOCIETIES. OFFICIAL ASSOCIATION FORMED. COMPETITION NEXT SEASON. Representing twenty-five of the lodges affiliated in Auckland, a well-attended meeting was held in the supper room at the Manchester Unity Hall last evening to form a United Friendly Societies Cricket Association. Bro. W. G. Caddy (U.A.O.D.).presided, supported by Bros. U. J. Davidson, secretary of the United Friendly Societies' Association and secretary of Westmere Lodge, W. Milicich, K. E. Neal, 11. N. Tullett, with Mr. JMolloy in an advisory capacity. The proposed constitution ot the association, to be known as "The Auckland United Friendly Societies Cricket Association," set out in detail that the objective was to promote, organise, foster and manage the game in the friendly society districts of Auckland; north to (and including; Henderson, am; south to (and including) Otahuhu, also including the boroughs ot North Shore, and to contribute to the advancement of the game throughout New Zealand. . The convening committee sought the assistance of the first meeting in electing additional preliminary officials to hold office and prepare business with a view to a competition, .such members to hold office until the first annual' meeting, .to be held at a date to be arranged prior to the openin? of the season. The motion for the creation of the association was proposed by Bro. Ruffles and seconded by Bro. Bell, and carried with enthusiasm. New members added to the committee of management were Bros. A. E. Bell (Eden Druids) and W. A. Walsh (Hibernians). It was eventually decided to postpone further action to enable delegates to present the proposal to their lodges, a further meeting of the official committee to be held on Tuesday evening at the Y.M.C.A. ' . Bro. W. G. Caddy, at the first official meeting of the committee, was elected i chairman, Bro. C. J. Davidson lion, secretary, and Bro. H. V. Tullett lion, treasurer. WOMEN'S TEAM ON TOUR. POSSIBLE VISIT TO NEW ZEALAND. It is practically certain that a tour of New Zealand will be made next season by the English women's cricket team which is to visit Australia then, states a Christchurch paper. A cablegram asking whether matches and hospitality for the players can be arranged has been received from England by Miss E. L. Harris (Christchurch), act-ing-secretary for the Dominion council of the provincial associations. The message states that the team would leave Australia about January 24 and would require to depart from New Zealand by either the Rotorua on February 28 or the Reinuera on March 10.
