FAILED TO PAY FARE.
TRAM PASSENGER FINED
' Failure to pay his tram fare was responsible for a man, L. Gabriel, being prosecuted by the Auckland Transport Board before Mr. .W. R. McKean, S.M., at' the Magistrate's Court this morning. Mr. Butler, who appeared for the board, said that there was a provision in the by-laws allowing a passenger unable to pay the correct fare to give his name and address to the conductor, and within three days to pay the fare to the board. Defendant had availed himself of that provision but had omitted to pay the fare to the boards office within the requisite three days. Defendant, who did not appear, was convicted and fined 10/ and ordered to pay the costs of the prosecution, £1.
