Mr. W. C. Beaumont returned to-day from a trip to the East. The Hon. C. J. Carrington, M.L.C., left for Wellington by the Limited last evening. Mr. T. Golden lias been re-elected chairman of tlie Southland Hospital Board. Mr. H. G. R. Mason, M.P. for Auckland Suburbs, left for the south by tho Limited last evening. > Mr. Searle D. Mason, secretary of tlie C'hristchurch Woollen Company, has been appointed manager. Mr. R. B. Tcnnent, director oii the fields division of the Department of Agriculture, is at the Station Hotel. Mr. W. J. Broadfoot, M.P. for Waitomo, and Mrs. Broadfoot arrived by tha Limited this morning and are staying at the Star Hotel. The Hon. J. A. Young, Minister of Health, spent the weok-end on his farm at Mangawai, and leaves for the south by tlie Limited to-night. Mr. G. H. Beliton was to-day admitted as a barrister and solicitor of tho Supreme Court by Mri Justice Ostler, oil the motion of Mr. F. W. L. Milne. Mr. W. G. Wohlmann, Commissioner of Police, has been appointed a member of the general committee of the Wellington centre of the St. John Ambulance Association. Mr. G. E. Marne Kerry, who lias been, appointed New Zealand manager for Carmicliael and Company, Sydney, is expected to arrive in the Dominion about the middle of this month. Mr. F. W. Ellis, who, owing to iltliealth, recently resigned from the water department of the Auckland City Council, intends to leave on June 28 on an extended visit to Australia. Mr. F. M. Price, M.A., 8.C0m., of Auckland, who came first in New Zealand and third in Australasia in the recent final secretarial examinations, has been admitted as an s.ssociate of the Australasian Institute of Secretaries. Lieutenant-Colonel W. C. H. Stevens has relinquished command of the Auckland Mounted Rifles, and is transferred to the reserve of officers. Major J. C. E. Wyatt has been appointed to the command, with the rank of lieutenantcolonel as from June 1. Lieutenant-Colonel K. MacCorniick, D.5.0., lias relinquished the position of assistant director of medical services and officer commanding the N.Z.M.C. Northern Command, and is transferred to tlie reserve of officers. He will oe succeeded by Major S. H. Ward, with tlie rank of Lieutenant-Colonel, as from May 0.
