PAKURANGA HUNT.
MEET AT'HOWICK. Tlic Pal-.uranga Hunt met at the Howiek Hotel on Saturday morning, and after a hunt breakfast provided by Mr. and Mrs. Clark and Mr. A. Walker, proceeded to Pigeon Mountain. There were over a hundred followers, but the course was so difficult that only the huntsman, Mr. P. H. Smith, the whip, Mr. J. Harrison, and one follower, Mr. E. Roberts, finished.
Hounds were thrown off in Mr. A. C. Trousdale's property, and worked over to Mr. J. Langford's place, where a hare was started. It circled Pigeon Mountain, but was killed after a short run. A strong hare was later put up on Mr. J. Gillman's farm, and after crossing the properties of Messrs. G. Roberts, F. Roberts, R. White, T. Church and W. Massey, it doubled back, and was lost on Mr. J. Gill's land. Another hare raised on Mr. F. Roberts' place took the hounds over much the same country, and was eventually lost. The last" hare started went over the lands of Messrs. R. White, A. Milne, N. Milne and J. Roberts and Miss F. McDonnell before being killed in some gorse behind. Mr. A. Leach's farm.
