OTAHUHU FIRE BRIGADE.
A smoke concert was held by the Otahuhu Volunteer Fire Brigade on Saturday evening. Mr. 11. T. Clements, Mayor of Otahuhu, presided, and four members of the council and the town clerk were present. Mr. F. M. Waters represented the Mnnukau County Council. Messrs. Craft, Thomas, Dixon, Matthews, Reader and 13. Rullen contributed songs and recitations. During the evening Mr. W. W. Massey, M.P., presented various honours for the year to the following:—Deputysuperintendent F. Bennett, 2-year bar; Firemen J. Maxwell and H. J. Levy, two years' bar; Fireman Ray Whittle, five years' medal. Firemen Jack Kerr, George Crow and Ray Whittle each received a three years' certificate. Fireman C. .McDonald, recently appointed to the Auckland Fire Board's Ellerslie station, was the recipient of a special present from his old associates. The most popular presentation of the evening was that made to Mr. Jack Harvey, the brigade's honorary mechanic, for his many useful "gadgets" fitted to the fire engine.
