"ON LOCATION."

FOR "KONGO RAID." BRITISH COMPANY IN AFRICA. This new British screen adaptation from Edgar Wallace's "Sanders of the River," is planned to be one of the most thrilling and unusual motion pictures ever made. The production manager covered over 11,000 miles in Uganda and the Congo while making the preliminary arrangements for the African sequences. The unit consisted of 14 Europeans, five lorries, five private cars and over 40 porters, with three cameras and complete sound-recording apparatus. Important scenes were taken among the Acholi natives at Gulu, in Uganda— a primitive but intelligent people, wearing no clothing and of wonderful physique. Their strange customs, war dances, songs and marriage ceremonies will form part of this exciting film. Two complete native villages were built on the shores of Lake Nabagaba. One native was a perfect natural actor, 6ft 6in in height, with a wonderful voice. The native kings of Uganda, in whose territory the unit worked, proved highly intelligent and hospitable, and were of great help in the many difficult' undertakings. Thirty war canoes, each carrying 80 men, "shoot" the great rapids, their incredible skill saving the craft from what appears to be inevitable disaster. Leslie Howard, late of Hollywood, will have the title role in the necessary scenes which will be completed a"t Elstree.
