■s The town clock at Goerlitz, Silesia, lias been seven minutes fast for the past t>Bl years. In 1252 some conspirators'decided I to murder the town coumillars as they left tho municipal buildings at noon. But one of the plotters, repented. -He set the clock seven minutes fast so that the conspirators arrived too soon and were arrested. As a memorial to the event the clock has been left fast from that day to this.
