OTAHUHU DISPUTE.
EMPLOYEE'S ARM BROKEN. CONVICTION OF EMPLOYER. A dispute between an employer and an employee had a sequel in the Otahuhu Court this morning. Before Messrs. T. C. P. Whitely and W. D. Gilmore, J.P.'s, the employer was charged with assaulting the employe© by striking him with a piece of piping and breaking his arm. Sergeant J. Cahill said that the dispute became heated, and defendant said that the employee picked up a stone and threatened to attack him. Defendant picked up a piece of piping and struck the man, but did not intend to injure him. Defendant said that he got annoyed and excited. He had offered to pay all the expenses. The defendant, whose name was suppressed, was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence within six months if called upon.
