MEETING OF CABINET.
OVERHAUL CONTEMPLATED
(By Telegraph. —Special to " Star. )
WELLINGTON, this day
Cabinet to-day is occupied in a complete review of the unemployment position. The Prime Minister, the Et. Hon. G. W. Forbes, at the luncheon adjournment, stated that the Ministers had commenced this survey prior to the Palmerston North demonstrations because the Government desired to .improve the condition for relief workers, if at all possible within the limits imposed by the finance available. The meeting would be continued this afternoon, he said, and the Minister of Employment would be able subsequently to make a statement which he would prepare carefully. An indication that the contemplated overhaul covers a wide field was provided by the fact that officials of the Unemployment Board and the hospital and charitable aid department were available for consultation by the Cabinet.
