In the Sydney Criminal Court to-day Mrs. Aimee Belle'Edols was sentenced to two years' imprisonment on a charge of obtaining £3900 by fraud while a sequestration order was in force against her under the Bankruptcy Act.
The evidence disclosed that Mrs. Edols obtained the £3900 at different times by representing to a solicitor, Mr. A. Edwards, that she had a large sum of money coming to her from an investment.
There were further charges against accused of having stolen £3200, the property of Mr. Percy McConnell, a retired Fiji planter, and that she had contributed to her bankruptcy by gambling, and by losing £14,000 between 1020 and 1031 by betting on racecourses.
