PARLIAMENT OPENS.

QUESTION TIME IN COMMONS. (British Official Wireless.) (Received 1 p.m.) RUGBY, May 29. Parliament reassembled to-day after the Whitsuntide recess. Asked in the House of Commons whether the Government was going to appoint a committee to make arrangements at home and in the Dominions for the celebration of the 25tli anniversary of the King's accession, Mr. Mac Donald said that he hoped to be able to make a statement on the subject shortly.

Mr. Mac Donald said that he undcrstood if, two unofficial schemes bearing oil tlio question of the internationalisation of civil aviation had been received and were being considered by tlie appropriate Department.

Mr. Mac Donald expressed satisfaction in announcing the formal signature last week of a protocol of friendship and cooperation between Colombia and Peiu. The Chancellor of the Exchequer, Mr. Neville Chamberlain, replying in the House of Commons to questions, said lie was not yet in a position to make a statement regarding the debt payment due to the United States on June 15 but he hoped to do so shortly.

Mr. J. H. Thomas said that he had received a personal letter from General Hertzog submitting certain reasons for asking that the question of transfer to the Union of South Africa of various native protectorates adjoining the Union be further considered.

Mr. Thomas added, in reply to a further question, that no communication had been received from the protectorates themselves in regard to the matter.

Mr. Walter Runciman, President of the Board of Trade, said that he hoped negotiations for a trading agreement between Britain and Holland would be opened next month.
