EX-CITY ENGINEER.
BRISBANE CONTRACT ENDS,
ME. W. E. BUSH'S POSITION,
Owing to amalgamation of the works, water and sewerage departments of the Brisbane City Council, staff adjustments have been made, including the termination of the services of Mr. W. E. Bush, engineer in charge of water and sewerage. Mr. Bush was formerly city engineer at Auckland, but he resigned in 1929 to take up the Brisbane appointment, which was a five years' contract, at a salary of £1750, rising to £2000.
The Lord Mayor, in a minute presented to the Labour council of Brisbane, recommended the amalgamation of the departments named, and the chairman of the water and sewerage committee stated that the three months' extension of Mr. Bush's term which had been made would not be renewed and the appointment would automatically terminate on July 22. This would save the council fIToO a year, as the officer in charge of th-> , works department would in future control water and sewerage as well-
