Business on the local Stock Exchange 'continues steady, and reccnt gains are firmly held. Increased confidence in the pastoral industry was shown this morning in a sale of Abraham Williams £t> preference shares at £4 10/. Buyers for Farmers Auctioneering ordinary £5 shares advanced their offers to £3 10/,_ while sellers laised their reserves to £4 7/6. In the mining section there was a good inquiry for a miscellaneous assortment, some offers being at purely speculative jirices. Waihis were wanted, but buyers had dropped their limits to £1 13/6. Alexanders were in demand at 15/, and 31ackwatcrs at £1 13/3. There were bidders for all issues of Government stocks, and several lines were •on offer, but with reserves well up. New Zealand Breweries Higher. | A rise of 1/3 in the value of New Zealand Breweries was made at the noon call, and more were wanted at £2 3/6,! •while holders moved up to £2 4/3. | Northern Steams gained Gd on late values, and buyers quoted 7/6, with sellers at 7/11.
