LIMERICK CONTEST.
THE WINNING ENTRIES. Below is listed the winning entries for the Limerick contest conducted in the Budget a fortnight ago. (By Margaret Clarke. "Xamol," Earawa Itoad, Onehunga ; age 14.) There was once a young Budgetite, Who woke with a yell in the night. When asked, "Why the fear?" She replied, "Oh. inv dear, I dream that my 'Star' caught alight." (By Ailsa liyan. "Ellensden," 13, Maybeck Koad, Mount Albert; age IC.) "The meat is etill raw," wailed mamma, As she spied father's form from afar. But the kids cried, "Gee, mum! There's no need to look glum, He'll not notice —just hand him the 'Star.'" (By Kathleen Goddard, 62, Mount Albert ltoad, Mount Albert; age 14.) There was once a thinker who thought That by thinking he'd come overwrought. So lie packed up his case, For a nice quiet place, Where a thinker could think things unsought. (By Derek Clark, 20. SlilpUerd's Avenue, Epsom; age 0.) There was a young girl of Wimple, Who had a most wonderful dimple. But sad was her plight, When she found that one'night Her dimple had changed to a pimple. (By Chrissie Hucy, 41, ICelmarna Avenue, Heme Bay ; age 17.) Miss Budget has wool by the batch, Every skein an appropriate match. So with wool, knitting pins And benevolent grins, She knitted a great Sunshine patch. (By Bill Holder, 11, Bayfield Road, Ilerne Bay; age 12.) A careless young man at the zoo, The cage of the tigress fell through. As his head struck the bars, He saw lots of free "Stars." Now the tigers are reading them too. ,(By May Inning. 17, Lawrence Si.eet Mount E'den ; age 10.) Said Rosic to Archie, "I say, You must take me to luncheon to-day." Archie groaned with a sob, "Now that I've lost my job, How on earth am I going to pay?"
