TEAM TO PLAY AUCKLAND. BLEND OF YOUTH AND EXPERIENCE. (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") OTAGO, this day. The Otago Soccer team to play Auckland on June' 16 for the Football Association Trophy, will be captained by Balk, with Mr. A. Sharp manager. The 6ole selector, Mr. J. Simpson, will also accompany the team. In announcing his tsam to the meeting of the association, Mr. Simpson said that he realised it would be a risk to select some of the younger and untried players, particularly in the back division. S. Duncan was an automatic selection, but was unable to travel, and his position was hard to fill. Four half-backs had been selected, but the twelfth man would not be announced till the day of the match. The team had more than a good chance of success. Tlie chairman congratulated the selector on his team. He had blended old and young players, and with such a team Otago's prospect"? were very rosy.

TOURS CANCELLED. N.Z. COUNCIL DECISION. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Tuesday. That New Zealand was not to receive an Australian Soccer team this year was the decision reached at a meeting of the council of the New Zealand Football Association this evening, when a cablegram was read from the Australian Association advising that the States had determined the tour was impossible unless a definite monetary offer' was made; The chairman, Mr. B. L. Salmon, said New Zealand could make no offer. Concerning the proposal to send a primary schoolboys' team to Australia, the secretary, Mr. A. Williams, announced that most of the associations were against the scheme. "We are not getting any further ahead with it," he said. On the motion of Mr. Salmon no action was taken in the proposal to receive a Fijian eleven. It stated in a letter that the Fijian players were temperamental.
