BOXING.
HARD FIGHT IN THE STATES,
NEW YORK, May 29,
At the Madison Square Garden bowl, New York, in the presence of 65.000 spectators, Barney Ross, Chicago, lightweight boxing champion, defeated Jimmy McLarnin, Vancouver welter-weight champion, in 15 rounds. The judges disagreed, and the referee, Mr. Forbes, decided in favour of Ross. The bout was fast and hard. Several unquestionably low blows counted against MoLarnin. The receipts totalled 225,000 dollars.
