SOCIAL GATHERINGS.
A successful dance and card evening, at which Mrs. A. Speight was hostess, wa6 held in St. Mark's Hall, Remuera, recently, the 'proceeds of which were to bo donated to Miss Gerrard, G.L.S. queeD, of St. Matthew's Queen Carnival organised by Canon Grant Cowen. The committee of the Otaliuhu Sailing Club held its annual dance and presentation of prizes in the Otahulm Public Hall on Monday evening. The Taihape branch of the Plunkct Society celebrated its twenty-first birthday at the recent annual meeting. The birthday cake was cut by the original president of the branch, Mrs. J. G. Oldham, who gave some entertaining reminiscences of the early days of the society. A balance-sheet showing a healthy credit was adopted. Officers were elected as follow: Patroness, Mrs. J. F.
