AFFAIRS OF REFEREES
At the meeting of the Auckland Referees' Association last evening, Mr. It. E. Bull presiding, a hearty welcome was extended to Mr. D. Faris, a member of the West Coast Referees' Association. The chairman intimated that with regard to the goal line kick from a forcedown, the Auckland Rugby League had no intention of putting the new rule into operation until the New Zealand Rugby League had confirmation of its decision from the English Rugby League. Further complaint was received in regard to the ground at Manukau. Mr. Mincham particularly emphasised the value of Seymour Park, which he urged could be made the feature ground of the future in Onehunga. The matter eventually was left in the hands of Mr. J. W. Probert, who had acted for the Control Board with regard to ground in that area. It was reported that on Saturday good control had been exercised as regards the late tackle, but this was sacrificed to some extent to the scrum rule and play the ball. Mr. G. Kelly was granted indefinite leave.
