Y.W.C.A.
A most encouraging account of the activities for the month was received by the board of directors, at its meeting on Friday. Numbers in the hostel and cafeteria were on the increase,, there was a large enrolment in the health education department, and the girls' department roll stood at 113. In view of the approaching annual meeting a nominations committee was set up, comnvising Miss D. Dempsey (convener), Mesdames Rudd and Lamb, Misses Fleming and Tilsley, to consider filling vacancies on the board of directors. Mrs. Sullivan was appointed to the holiday house committee, and Mrs. Myles to the cafetiria committee.
The rehearsals for the production of "A Gaiety Girl," at the end of the month, under the direction of Mrs. E. Sutherland and - Mr. Leu Barnes, were well on the way. Preparations for ths street day on June 22 were also well forward. Notification had been received of a legacy left to the association by the late Mr. W. C. Daldy. Attention was drawn to the fact that, of the bequests made to the Y.W.C.A. during the last ten years, owing to certain.life interests and to unavoidable delays in realising oil estates, it was only a very small proportion of money that had actually been paid in to the funds. Miss M. Law gave a most interesting presentation of the work of the senior department.
