AUCKLAND CONTROL BOARD. SHIELD FOR FRANKLIN. SATURDAY'S PROGRAMME. The meeting of the Auckland RugbyLeague Board of Control last evening, with •Mr. G. Grey Campbell presiding, opened with congratulations to the chairman on the success of the opening ceremony of the new grandstand at Carlaw Park on Saturday. . An application by the City Boys' Band for the use of Carlaw Park for rehearsing of marching, in order to be available for the review on June 4 in connection with the King's birthday celebrations, was granted. The application of the Devonport United Club for the fixture with Richmond to be played at North Shore, in aid of the Noel Crump- fund, was granted.

The Ponsonby Club advised tliat Mr. L. Riley, the international player, had become a coach at Northcote, and that Mr. A. Philburn had been appointed to the Ponsonby Club committee in succession to Mr. R. Allen. As the result of a letter from the Taranaki League and the number of applications received for representative fixtures, it was decided to defer consideration of this matter until next meeting. A letter was received from Mr. H. Walmsley that his latest shield, to be known as the Ivan Culpan Shield, would be for senior competition in the Franklin (Tuakau) district. The board expressed its appreciation. Two reserve grade players, of Devonport and Newton' clubs, received a caution for misconduct on the field on Saturday. The Referees' Association was thanked for its offer of practical assistance in connection with its grandstand quarters. New registrations were approved as follows: —B. D. Craig (One Tree Hill) and Peter Smith (King Country rep.) to Ponsonby; R. P. Webb (Mount Roskill) to Devonport.
