AUCKLAND ASSOCIATION. OVERSEAS TOURS ORGANISED. _____ The first meeting of the newly elected executive of the Auckland Hockey Association was held last evening, the chairman, Mr. J. N. Wilson, presiding. The opening day for matches in all grades was fixed for Saturday, April 28, the grounds being available for practice on April 14 and 21. Entries close on Monday week. The age limit for fifth grade players was fixed at under 16 on May 1. It was decided to support the Wellington Association's notice of motion that New Zealand shield holders need accept only three challenges in each season, unless desirous of accepting more. The New Zealand Association advised that a fully representative Australian team was due the second week in August, and invited applications for fixtures against this team. Messrs. T. Clark, C. Preston and J. Kiff were ar pointed a sub-commit-tee to Investigate financial and other matters relative to games at Auckland. The New Zealand Association also advised that negotiations were proceeding for a tour of Australia and New Zealand by an Indian team in 1930.

It was reported that the New Zealand Challenge Shield had been played for 75 times, and that Auckland had retained the shield 32 times.

An appeal will be made to all clubs to forward as many used sticks to the association as possible for distribution to new school teams. It was also decided to apply to the Herbert Smith Trust Fund for 26 sticks as trophies for school boys at the tourney and athletics on June 4.

Country -week tourney was scheduled to commence on Monday, June 18, and to run till Saturday, June 23, which date the annual Town v. Country match will take place.
