ANOTHER RISE IN EGGS.

BANANAS FIRM IN PRICE. . . KEEN DEMAND FOR CUCUMBERS. Ballarat apples are now reaching the marts. Other apples, as well as' pears, only meet with fair demand. Quinces, on the other hand, have good inquiry, and meet with ready sole. All lines of tomatoes are now in good demand. Peaches are nearly over for the season, but a few small lines of Golden Queen are still coming to hand. Green figs are being sent to the marts, but so far only in small lota. Bananas sold at better prices this week, owing to improved demand. Quotations for gverage lines are as follow, a few "choice lots realising higher prices: — Apples: Delicious, 1/6 to 3/ per case; Gravenstein, choice, 1/6 to 4/; Cox's Orange, 3/ to 5/; cookers, 1/6 to 3/; windfalls. 1/ to 1/15. Pears: Bon Chretien, 2/ to 2/6; Packham's Triumph. Clairgeau, and E. Bartlett, 2/ to 3/; Louis Bon, 5/ to 6/6; windfalls and others, 1/6 to 2/. Passions: 2/ to 4/6. Peaches: Choice, in trays, 4/6 to 6/6; in cases, 3/6 to 5/3 ease. Mushrooms: 9d to 1/ per lb. Oranges: Californian, 30/ to 34/ case; Jamaican, 2.5/ to 30/ case. Rock melons: Tn trays. 4d to Sd each. Lemons: Cured, 9/ to 14/ case; others, 4/ to 8/. Grapefruit: Californian, 30/ to 35/; Jamaican, 20/ to 30/, according to count. Tomatoes: Outdoor, choice smootj, 4/ to 5/6; others, 2/ to 4/. Bananas: 1 15/ to 20/ case. Blackberries: 4%d to S'/ad chip. Sweet corn, 2/ to 2/6 case. Cape gooseberries: 3d to 3%d per lb. Quinces: 6/ to 0/ c.ife. Pines: Queensland. 11/ to 15/. Granes: To Kauwhata, 4'6 to 6/ case; hothouse, 4d to 1/4 per lb. Coconuts: 14/ sack.

Vegetables. Heavy (supplies of kumaras, pumpkins and onions are now being received at the marts. Potatoes, on the other hand, are only in fair supply, and meet with good demand. The quantity of peas sent in has shown considerable increase, and the market is over-supplied with beans this week. Demand for celery has been poor, which is unfortunate, as supplies have been heavy. _ Cucumbers are in keen demand, owing to smaller quantities having come to hand. Large quantities of cabbage and cauliflower of good quality are reaching the marts, and the demand for both lines is fair. Lettuce of good quality meets with ready sales. Rhubarb is now in better demand. Carrots, parsnips and beet arc in heavy supply, but meet with poor demand. Quotations are:—Potatoes, 3/ to 4/6 per bag; swedes, 1/ to 2/ bag; onions, 1/6 to 2/6 bag: kumaras, 2/ to 4/ sack; cabbages, 2/ to 4/6 sack, on benches 1/ to 2/6 dozen; cauliflowers, 4/ to 6/ sack, on benches 2/ to 4/ dozen; pumpkins, best, 4/ to 7/ cwt; others, 1/ to 3/ sack; cucumbers, 1/6 to 3/6 dozen; carrots, 3d to 6d dozen; parsnips, 6d to lOd dozen: beet, 3d to 6d dozen; turnips, 3d to 6d dozen; radish, 6d dozen; spring onions, 4d to 8d; spinach, 6d to 1/ dozen; leeks, 2d to 7d dozen; green peas, 2/ to 6/ bag; French beans, 1/ to 2/ bag; marrows, 6d to 1/ dozen; citron melons, 3d to 6d each: water melons, 3d to 1/ each; lettuce, 1/ to 4/ case; celery, cooking 6d to 9d, dessert 1/ to 2/ bundle; rhubarb, 9d to 1/6 dozen.

Poultry Choapor To-day. At to-day's auctions the supply of poultry was very heavy, and the demand was fair. The prices paid again fell in some lines. Selling rates were as follow:— Cockerels: Heavy breeds, prime, 2/ to 3/6 cach; not prime, 9d upwards; light breeds, prime, 1/ to 2/3; not prime, 9d upwards. Fat roosters: Heavy breeds, prime, 1/6 to 1/9; light breeds, 1/ to 1/6. Fat hens: Heavy breeds, 1/G to 2/3; light breeds, 1/ to 1/6. Pullets: Heavy breeds, best, 2/6 to 4/6; smaller, 1/ upwards; light breeds, best, 2/6 to 4/0; smaller, 1/ upwards. Drakes: Young, prime, 1/6 to 2/6; smaller, 9d upwards; old, 1/3 to 1/9. Ducks: Young, 1/9 to 2/6; old, 1/3 to 1/9. Turkey hens: 4/ to 5/6; gobblers, 6/ to 12/6. ' Eggs Again Advanco. A further advance of one penny per dozen all round has taken place for both hen and duck eggs. Supplies of duck eggs are now very short. Quotations are: — First grade hen eggs, 1/8% per dozen: B grade, 1/5%; and C grade, 1/2%. First grade duck eggs, 1/8% per dozen; B grade, 1/7%; and C grade, 1/5%. Farm ere' butter, 6d to 8d per lb.
