rep6rts under review. The Auckland Provincial Patriotic and War Relief Association met yesterday afternoon. The president, Sir James Guneon, presided.
Reports.—Several reports wore considered. The claims board reported that during the quarter under review it considered 1251 applications, of which 749 were granted, 103 deferred, and 399 declined. The amount granted to the successful applicants was £1523 cash assistance, and £1099 by provision of work.
Veterans' Home. —The number of inmates in the home was reported to be 26. The average weekly cost per inmate, taking the figures from the last monthly report, was £1 4/6, exclusive of home produce consumed at the home, which averaged 3/6 per week .per man. The capital fund of the home stood at £48.500, and the year's income would more than provide sufficient for the upkeep and maintenance of the home, leaving a credit balance in the accounts.
Finance Committee. —The total funds of the association at November 11, 1933, amounted to £66.C73 3/7. Since that date the sum of £1197 12/1 had been received for interest on investments, and £1287 10/ refunds from southern kindred patriotic societies, making a total of £68.558 5/8. The expenditure under all headings since November 11, 1933, amounted to £4343 13/10. leaving a balance on hand at March 3. of £64.214 11/10. From this statement it would be seen that the total Imlanco of the association's fund at February 28 last was £64,214 11/10.
