WAIHIS STEADY AT £1 16/6,

A fair list of sales lias been put through oil the Auckland Stock Exchange since last report. At this morning's call the bidding followed the recent trend. Waihis were again in keen demand, but buyers were not prepared to meet sellers at' £ 1 17/, the highest bid being 6d lcs*. With a dividend close at hand King Solomons recovered a little, with a sale at 4/1, and more wanted. In the banking section New Zealands were very steady between £2 7/10 and £2 8/3.

The demand for Farmers' Auctioneering scrip still continues, and another parcel of the B preferences was placcd at 10/. There were buyers for all lines in Government stocks, but the only olfering was a parcel of 4 per cents (1940) at £103 10/. Interest in Mining. Interest at the noon call was centred in the mining section, where six sales were finalised. The market was, however, mainly weaker. >i"aihis followed the last sale yesterday at £1 16/0, with buyers willing to give that, and holders willing to part at 3d more. Grand Junctions went at 4/10, •with buyers' at that figure, an increase of Id on this morning, and holders Id ahead. Holders of Waitahus made a big concession to sell. The figure this morning was 6/, with buyers 1/ behind. Sellers announced their willingness to take 5/3, and finally 5/, which was accepted. Buyers and sellers of New Zealand Newspapers are the same after a sale at £1 9/; namely, £18/ and £1 10/ respectively.
