MERCURY BAY DANCE.
Always a popular function at Mercury Bay the St. Patrick's Day dance held 011 "Monday night, instead of the usual 17th, -was well attended. Mrs. Eyre, the organiser, had all arrangements well in hand and a plentiful supply of hunting and ferns lent a charm to the surroundings. One of the features was a record attendance of 500 players, extra tables being requisitioned to meet the demand. Mrs. P. Connolly and Miss V. Prendergast, with Messrs. J. L. C. Lowe, Alex Lee and J. Cooper, supplied the music. Messrs. W. Oxley and F. Wrigley acted as masters of ceremonies, while Messrs. F. A. Stevens and J. Baker controlled the card game. Following were the winners: —Spot waltz, Miss Wheeler and Mr. A. Clapman; Monte Carlo, Miss Opal Hutchinson and Mr. R. McCabe. Mrs. F. Gubb and Mr. A. Motley tied for the greatest number of games won at OUyJ.
