LOCAL BODIES.

GLEN EDEN TOWN BOARD. The ordinary meeting of the Glen Eden Town Board was held last evening. Air. A. J. Routley presided. Resignation.—The resignation as a member of the board of Mr. P. S. Snowden was received. As an election is not compulsory, the board decided to take 110 action to fill the vacancy. Building Permit. —A building permit was granted to Mr. A. J. Hemming to effect alterations to Mr. F. Freeth's property in Waikaukau Street. Noxious Weeds. —Report was received o: the excessive growth of noxious weeds on certain properties. It was decided to give the ownere 14 days' notice to clear same. Cross Road. —The question of a cross road between Woodlands and Valley Roads came up for discussion. A route was proposed and it was decided to ask the owners of property in the vicinity to donate the land for this purpose, as a preliminary step to the object.

Public Hall.—Acting on a previous resolution, the board decided to grant the school committee one free night's use of the .public hall. Finance.- —The financial report showed receipts as £117 1/6, payments £i!So 3/6, and the bank overdraft £838 3/0. PAPAKURA TOWN BOARD. The Papakura Town Board met last evening, Mr. H. E. McEntee being in the chair. Water Charges.—lt was reported that the water account had a balance of £420. This was not as high as in past years, but under the meter charge people were not using as much -water. It was decided to make a thorough inspection of the meters and see if there could 'be a reduction in the water charges. Forget-me-not Day.—Permission was given to the Community Sunshine Association to take up a collection in March. Heavy Traffic Fees.—Notification of the percentages of heavy traffic fees was received. Among them were the following: Papakura 0.6S per cent, Manurewa 0.80 per cent. I'apatoetoe 0.52 per cent, Franklin County 12.16 per cent, Manukau County 6.27 per cent. Otahulm L.30 per cent, and Pukekoho 1.45 per cent. Fire Brigade.—Congratulations were extended to the Papakura Fire Brigade on its in the recent demonstration. Lease of Park.—The Papakura League Football Club, tho only tenderers for the use o; Prince Edward Park, at two guineas for Saturday play, was granted i the use of same.
