BIRTH CONTROL.
I r - 1 t Like your correspondent "Sanity" I am 5 wondering if the National Council of Women really believes it represents the opinion of the T women of New Zealand on this question. Are ; the members too blind to see what is taking . place tinder their very noses ? Is it impossible , for theih to put two and two together—to | compare the average number of children in f each family to-day with that of forty years - ago? Whether these ladies like it or not, . birth control has come, and to stay, the only' I question being whether it shall be practised . safely on scientific lines (as the Women's Institutes desire) or ignorantly and dangerously as a source of income by irresponsible persons. Every woman is at liberty to use- her. ; own discretion on the subject. In our wildest. . dreams no one ever thought of making birth ? , control compulsory, so what has the National Jj Council of Women to worry about? The.. ( Women's Institutes should take the matter : s into their own hands and petition the Govern- . ment to establish clinics on the same lines as .. . those in England and America. There is no reason why New Zealand should lag 'behind.. At one time it was our proudest boast that we led the world in progressive legislation.. . GRANNIE.
