At the wool sales 7001 bales were offered, including SOiii New Zealand; o'J3ti were sold. .there was keen home and Continental competition, especially lor finer Merinos. Dalgety and Company, Limited:—The sales opened with a largo attendance of buyers. Competition was fairly animated, but rather irregular. The selection was mostly crossbreds. Withdrawals were fairly heavy. As compared with closing rates of last series, prices were: Merino, par to '/id lower; crossbred, fine, %d lower; crossbred, medium, %d to %d lower; crossbred, coarse, %d lower; line slipe, unchanged; other descriptions slipe, '•id to %d lower; greasy lambs, crossbred, unchanged.

The .New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency, Limited:—There was a full attendance at the opening of the sales to-day. Competition of home and Continental buyers was fairly active. As compared with last sales' closing rates, prices are lower by %d per lb lor greasy Merinos; %d to Id for scoured crossbreds, medium greasy crossbreds, coarse and coarse greasy crossbred and crossbred slipes. The opening catalogues were not representative.
