farmers prosecuted. (From Our Own Correspondent.) PUKEKOHE, Wednesday. At tlie Pukekohe Magistrate's Court to-dav, before Mr. F. H. Levien, S.M., two more prosecutions were brought against farmers for failing to clear ragwort from their farms after notice had been served. . The inspector, Mr. A. VI. Christie, in prosecuting W. H. Cadman, stated that this case was a particulaily bad one, as many neighbours had been complaining. Noticc had been served on defendant, who even then made no attempt to clear the weed, with the result that it had seeded and ""-Quid thus cause a spread. He was lined £1 and costs £11/. „ L. J. McGuire plendod not guilty to a charge brought against him. The inspector stated that he had served a notice on the defendant, who had failed to clear his farm well enough to pass liis inspection. Mr. E. G. Foster, who appeared for defendant, stated that notice had never been served and that the inspector had never been at defendant's farm until a few davs ago. The farm itselt was not totally clear of the weed, but theie were onlv isolated patches. According to the Act, a farm need not be totally clear of the weed, but only clear within
