CARLAW PARK.
GRANDSTAND ENTERPRISE. WORK STARTS TO-MORROW. Preliminary work on tlie site for the new grandstand for Carlaw Park is being put in hand to-dny with a view to the starting of the job to-morrow. During the past few days the plane and specifications have been perused by the Auckland City Council, which proposed several alterations with a view to improvement of the building. These changes from the original plans, acceptcd by the trustees of the Auckland Rugby League this morning, will increase tlie contract price for the undertaking to slightly over £3000. The contract is to be completed in May. Mr. JE. J. Phelan, a trustee and vicechairman of the League, announced today that the successful tenderer is Mr. It. A. Cornish, of Newmarket. The architects are Messrs. L. S. Piper and L. E. Brooker.
