RESTORING WAGE CUTS.
AUSTRALIAN COURT ACTION. MELBOURNE, February 22. Evidence was heard to-day by the full Arbitration Court on a general application by the unions for a rescission of the 10 per cent wages cut. Mr. P. J. Clarey, president of the Victorian Labour party, claimed that stability had been reached and the need for the reduction of wages had gone. The imposition of the 10 per cent reduction could only be regarded as a step toward a general readjustment, and once that had taken place, and the community had settled down to new conditions, the necessity for the cut dispppearcd.
