SOCIAL GATHERINGS.

The women's branch of the Otahuhu Unemployed Workers' Association held a dance and card party 011 Wednesday evening. These dances, which have been held - every fortnight since last winter, have proved very popular, there being present each night over 2-50 dancers. Mr«. Kemp, lady president, presented the prizes won at cards and Monte Carlo waltzes to the following: Euchre. Mrs. Boswell and Mr, Stinnan; 500, Mrs. Long and Mr. Lovich; Monte Carlo, first, Miss Darby and Mr. Maher; second, Miss Sptid and/Sfr. Members of the Ruawaia Bible class gathered at the home of Mr. ancl Mrs. FT. N. Cossar to bid farewell to Miss Elsie Fuge, who is leaving the district for Te Kamvhata. Games competitions and musical items passed an enjoyable evening. During the evening Miss Hazel Cossar, on behalf of the members of the Bible class presented the guest of honour with a handfome liatbox and a sheaf of autumn-tinted dahlias. Miss Fuge responded, thanking all for the beautiful gifts.
