AUSTRALIAN BUTTER.
COMPLAINTS OF QUALITY. j SYDNEY, February 21. A conference of State Ministers of Agriculture in Hobart received a communication from the Department of Commerce deploring the deterioration in quality of butter exported from Australia. This was interpreted as a threat of Commonwealth interference if the States did not improve the quality of butter exported. The percentage of choicest butter in Victoria is said to have declined steadily till in 1931 it was 39V6 per cent. For the eurrcnt season it was 43 per cent. In Queensland it is 53 per cent, in South Australia 30, and in Tasmania 48. In New South Wales it has progressively increased, and now is 84 per cent.
