THAMES AFFAIRS.
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) THAMES, Wednesday. Tlie Chamber of Commerce met this morning, Mr. C. S. Donovan presiding. Referring to tlie Gisborne Chamber's suggested issue of premium bonds!, the president said tho scheme was similar to one suggested by Thames. The chamber decided to approve the Gisborne scheme. The matter of a resident magistrate for Thames was discussed, members stating that, as the present magistrate would soon bo retiring and Thames was an important centre of a large law and mining district, the time was opportune to ask the Justice Department for the appointment of a resident magistrate. It was decided to make,, the request,.and that Mr. A. M. Samuel, M.P., bo asked to assist. It was also decided again to ask the Government to erect a new post office in Thames.
